IF IT WERE YOUR SISTER, WHO HAD POLIO, COULD YOU SEND HER A PET? # 971
Someone asked how to get one of the Mobility Worldwide PETs.
*** First, we do not give them out in the USA, basically because we have many types of wheelchairs available for anyone who needs them and they are needed far more in the developing world. And, because of insurance/legal reasons. Hand crank wheelchairs are available commercially in the USA. They are very expensive.
*** If the need is in South Africa contact by email >delbertgroves@newlifezambia.cominfo@giftofmobility.org<
*** Or, if your NGO ships in containers from the USA we can get a boxed PET to them.
*** Or, if someone is coming to visit you someplace in the world they can take a boxed PET along with them as luggage. A dentist in Moberly, MO, USA, who annually did free dental work in Uganda, found a man with no legs and wanted to take a PET to him. We took the PET all apart and put it into a golf bag and two big suitcases.
*** Or, they can be shipped boxed and as air freight. That is very expensive.

A woman visiting the shop had seen a woman in Malawi who had polio, and asked what it would cost to send her a PET. I estimated at about $650. She said, "That is awfully expensive."
I asked, "If that were your twin sister, would you find a way to ship it to her?"
"Oh, yes," she said. "If it were my real sister I could do it."
I said, "She is your sister, your sister in Christ."
WHAT IS POSSIBLE DEPENDS UPON HOW BADLY YOU WANT TO DO IT.
