Americares and Mobility Worldwide Deliver PET Carts to Ghana

Americares and Women’s Health to Wealth (WHW) have partnered in Ghana for more than 10 years, delivering over $33 million in medicine and medical supplies to clinics and health facilities across the entire Kumasi metro area. These items fill critical gaps in often severely under-resourced health settings, and are ultimately provided at no cost to Ghanaians who could otherwise not afford their prescriptions or basic medical supplies. A valuable component of this support has come in the form of Mobility Carts, generously donated by Mobility Worldwide. With Mobility Worldwide’s support, Americares and WHW have, since 2013, distributed nearly 250 Mobility Carts to Ghanaians with impaired mobility.

Americares and WHW recently delivered a shipment of eight Mobility Carts to the Orthopedic Training Center near Kumasi. The center held a small event to distribute the carts to several of their patients with leg disabilities or otherwise limited mobility. Several of these recipients were market traders whose impairment had caused them to miss work; aided by the Mobility Carts, they are now able to return to work and continue supporting their families.

Americares joins the Orthopedic Training Center and WHW in thanking Mobility Worldwide for its generous donation and support of independent mobility in Ghana. Together we are saving lives and improving health for people affected by poverty or disaster so they can reach their full potential.
