Dr. Jerry Graham attended a medical conference several years ago where he saw a mobility cart. A ministry opportunity idea took hold for Dr. Graham.  He returned to First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama and had a discussion with the Minister of Missions, Mike Pearce, about beginning a ministry of building and distributing the carts.  A committee comprised of John Noblin, Gordon Perry, Lee Singer, and Rodger Keene was formed as a result of that meeting. PET North Alabama was incorporated and obtained tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status in 2013.

The Penney Farms affiliate in Florida invited the committee to train with them about building the mobility carts. The Middle Tennessee affiliate was disbanding around this time and donated their tools and raw materials to our organization to help give us a start. They also provided valuable assistance in beginning production.  We were granted affiliate status in 2015.

Parts were built in the home shops of several people at first. The parts were brought to a warehouse for assembly, packing, and distribution. Work days were scheduled and volunteers were invited to participate in the assembly and packing. The warehouse was sold and the operation moved to Willowbrook Church – Madison, which was a storefront church at the time. We used the rear part of the building.

Willowbrook Church – Madison built a new facility, which required us to move again. Several months were spent searching for a new facility.  Bob Broadway allowed us to move into part of a warehouse that he owns. We moved to that location in 2016 and had a grand opening in January, 2017. The current facility has the space to have all of our operations under one roof rather than relying on shops at people’s homes. Production has increased from about 30 carts per year to over 150 carts per year, allowing us to share God’s love with more individuals in developing countries.

In early 2023, PET North Alabama underwent a name change to Mobility Worldwide North Alabama to align with the name change of our parent organization. In May 2023, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary and the completion of our 1000th Mobility Cart!
