Hall of Recognition

Each year at our annual conference, Mobility Worldwide recognizes individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond in advancing our mission.

From innovation to lifelong service, these awards highlight the people who have made a lasting impact in our organization.

Please join us in recognizing and celebrating those who have helped bring mobility to life worldwide.

Jim Conn Golden Sprocket Leadership Award

The Golden Sprocket Leadership Award is designated as Mobility Worldwide’s most prestigious annual award which is bestowed upon a volunteer who best exemplifies exceptional leadership qualities at the local, national, and international level.

The award was established in 2022 to honor the legacy of Jim Conn, whose vision, humility, servant leadership, and dedication guided Mobility Worldwide through pivotal seasons of growth and inspired countless others.

Reverand Walter Hays

Rev. Walt Hays has volunteered for Mobility Worldwide and has been a trusted advisor ever since his retirement as a non-profit leader and pastor for the United Methodist Church of Alaska. Walt is also a dedicated member of Lions International and has always been deeply committed to serving his community.

Walt and his late wife, JoAnn Shore, have attended multiple Mobility Cart distributions and dedicated a significant amount of time to advancing the organization’s mission.

As an act to honor his late wife, Walt created the JoAnn Shore Fund for Servant Leadership with an endowment to the PET Mobility Project Foundation, which helps young adults experience Mobility Cart distributions around the globe.

Margot and Dave Newcomb

For more than 20 years, Margot and Dave Newcomb have been pillars of the Brazos Valley shop. Their philanthropy and leadership helped expand Mobility Worldwide’s reach into new countries, including partnerships in Liberia that opened doors across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Through their guidance and Margot’s pivotal service on the Board, they exemplify volunteerism, ministry leadership, and dedication to changing lives worldwide.

Sid Rooy

The longest active volunteer at Penney Farms since 2001, Sid, has guided the shop with energy, wisdom, and compassion. He oversaw every aspect of cart production, including leading the team to build 98 carts in just 30 days during the height of Covid and has been instrumental in helping the shop reach its annual goal of 800 carts year after year.

For more than 22 years, his leadership has shaped the Penney Farms community with over 14,000 carts built and shipped to 45 countries.

Roger Hofmeister

A retired physician and longtime volunteer, Roger, has been a pillar of Mobility Worldwide since the early 1990s. From serving on affiliate and national boards to sweeping floors, building carts, and loading containers, he has led with humility and dedication.

In 2022, he was honored as the very first recipient of the Jim Conn Golden Sprocket Leadership Award for his leadership and tireless commitment.

Community Builder

This award honors a person who brings people together in meaningful ways, whether it’s through outreach, encouragement, or simply showing up with heart.

They’re the kind of person who turns strangers into friends. Their efforts don’t just impact their shop, but the entire Mobility Worldwide community. This person embodies the spirit of connection, reminding us that our mission is built not just on carts but on relationships and service.

The Forward Motion Award

This award recognizes a person who thinks boldly and brings fresh ideas and creative solutions that move our mission forward. Whether it’s redesigning a process, expanding reach, or improving the way we serve, this award honors someone who says, “What if we tried it this way?” and makes it happen.
