Book April 2019 – One Damned Good Horse: Stories, Wit, and Wisdom.

We wanted to let you know that our founder’s new book is now available. It’s a compilation of Rev. Mel West’s writings from growing up to missions he’s started to words of wisdom (see table of contents below). The books are selling for $20. All the money from sales goes to build more Mobility Carts. (Jeff Moran, mobility volunteer, led the editing and production of the book. Thanks to Mel and Jeff.)

The Daniel Boone Regional Library in Columbia carries Mel’s book in their circulation.  In December 2020, they interviewed him for their blog.  Visit their link to hear about writing his book of stories.  https://www.dbrl.org/adults/author-interview-mel-west

November 15, 2019 was National Philanthropy Day.  The official proclamation of November 15 was signed by President Reagan in 1986.  This year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Central MO Chapter honored Mel & Barbara West with the 2019 Outstanding Spirit of Philanthropy Award.

Mel & Barbara West Cart Center is fully operational August 2020.

Our 12,500 square foot new shop is now producing Mobility Carts.  Generous benefactors covered construction costs, and we fully own the building.  We house three mission projects under our 501c3 which the Wests started:  Mobility Worldwide MO – Columbia, The Container Project, and The Sewing Machine Project.  All three operate with their own funding.

Mel West received the Excellence in Service to Humanity award from Rotary International

“Columbia South Rotarians joined with Mobility Worldwide MO – Columbia friends to present Rev. Mel West with Rotary International’s Excellence in Service to Humanity award, given to only few around the world each year.  At 98 years young, Mel can still hold an audience with his stories of a life very well lived.  Congratulations, Mel, and thank you!”
